Election Day

BY: LINDSAY HIRSCHMAN

Patriotic politicians punish the poor at the poll

while you cut the queue, cheating your councilman into council.

The veteran votes against the 2020 vision

behind his bifocals and body bursting with antibiotics.

After Tuesday, the tank turns towards theater,

forcing the Arts to fast financially, starving the artists.

until welfare is warranted for their welfare.

“Money doesn’t buy happiness,”

bellows the big-headed billionaire—being blown by

supermodels, sexualized since they were sixteen—

as he blows developing domains into smithereens.

The Syrian schoolboy smelts the shrapnel into our silver coins

and dimes that dictate who decays from debt in alleyways,

and who wears freshly skinned leather loafers to the poll.
